Although Facebook, Blogs, Twitter and youtube have been around for several years, only recently have they become a standard part of the promotion strategy for computer-savvy businesses. But not every one is using them, why?
Why NOT do social media promotion?
Its free, easy, effective, can be done from anywhere in the world with a laptop, so how come everyone isn’t doing it!? A good question indeed, let’s expound.
Well as surprising as it may seem some people don’t even know how to set up a Twitter account, or a Facebook Business account, WordPress blog, etc etc. (despite the great ease at which this can be done, taking literally just minutes).
Other reasons include the hassle of having to think up original and interesting content, and then to regularly post it. For people who aren’t good writers or knowledgeable in promotion this can be a tedious and rather annoying task, and is the chief reason why newly made Facebook & Twitter accounts go ‘stale’ and never get off the ground.
Lastly and possibly the main reason is that companies have not realized or are not yet aware of the value of social media promotion. It is a brand new promotion model, therefore companies that use traditional methods and are not hip to the web, it may seem to them ridiculous that they could get leads from ‘tweeting’.
But as the world and technology evolves, so does business. And it behooves the business owner to stay hip with the times and take advantage of all possible channels of promotion. As that old worn out saying goes: “Those who don’t change with the times will be left behind”. This couldn’t be more applicable to the role of technology in business.
