Youtube Revisited

Posted by

In the world of social media, Facebook and Twitter garner most of the attention and energy of promoters and marketers which is not surprising as it only takes a moment to dig up a good picture, some text, write a catchy headline and click ‘post’. But when it comes to promoting with Youtube and making a video far more preparation is required, and it is not the kind of thing you can just churn out all day long (as many can do with posts on FB & TW).

Whether the cause may be lack of familiarity with video recording or just lack of energy/stamina to go through the motions of making a video, the issue remains the same: business do not take advantage of the social media miracle that is Youtube. The miraculousness lies in the fact that anyone with a computer, internet and digital camera has the potential of making a ‘viral’ video, which can then catapult his or her business into the stratosphere. And don’t let the preconception ‘only personal/non-business videos go viral’ deter you, as that is not true.

If making a viral video seems too unreal to you then you can certainly create normal/mundane videos on Youtube that while not going viral, still can help your site’s SEO, linking, and overall promotion. Let’s discuss some of the more down-to-earth things you can do:

Videos on all products

If your business sells individual products then you have the potential for making at least one video for every product you have. Have one of your salesmen just discuss all the features and benefits of the product, while showing him and the product itself. When you post the video in Youtube make sure you put the appropriate keywords as the video’s title (but don’t over-do it).

Videos of before and after (for services)

For those companies who don’t sell products fear not! You can take videos of every service you provide. For instance, the next job that you do, have someone video the entire process, and then have it edited to just show the key parts.

Videos on reviews

Taking it a step further, you can do reviews on products that you yourself do not sell but which your cliental may purchase elsewhere (for instance, a carpet cleaning company that does not sell any products, but does review them). This will give you the opportunity to become a trusted source of knowledge for your industry, leading your customers to rely on you for good information.

Videos on testimonials

Testimonials have become a standard part of websites these days. And while effective some readers still can have doubts as to their authenticity. This is most easily remedied by having your satisfied customers do video testimonials (through the kindness of their hearts). This adds great credibility and humanity to your business activity.
