What does Google Plus have that Facebook doesn’t?

There is one valuable thing that Google Plus offers which Facebook does not. And that is an organic (non-paid) method of reaching out and actively acquiring new followers/fans. Facebook allows the user a one time chance to ‘invite’ any of his friends to like his business page (thus becoming fans/followers). This avenue is rather limiting, and is rapidly exhausted. The Facebook page manager is then forced to rely on Boosted Posts or Facebook Ads to breakout and reach new realms of users.

Google Plus, however is in no way so restrictive, for G+ has the greatly under-rated, under-used feature of Communities.

G+ Communities

Communities are completely user-generated, and span a very wide spectrum of subjects, industries and interests.  This gives you the opportunity to find and reach individuals interested in your products/services/field, enabling you to engage them and build repute in your company’s G+ page.

Thousands of communities exist; in the off-chance that a community related to your industry does not exist you can personally create it yourself.

The most successful action to take when engaging with communities is to first observe what posts get the most engagement and then make similar posts yourself. This will earn you followers in short order.

Actively Acquiring Followers

Another key feature for which Facebook lacks is the ability to go to a competitor’s profile page and ‘follow’ all their fans, who in turn (over 50% of the time) will follow you. This allows you to seek out your target audience and reach them. They are interested in your competition, so therefore they would be interested in you too. After they follow you back they are then yours to reach and enlighten.

It should be noted that you should not follow too many people in one time, as it could trigger a red flag and freeze your account, as it may seem a bit too un-natural to Google. This technique is considered aggressive but can certainly be done in an appropriate, controlled way.

Not only can you follow people who follow your competition, but you can follow people in communities related to your industry as well, thereby widening your audience.
