5 Ways you can use Pinterest for promotion

As Pinterest continues to gain ground as a major social networking site more and more businesses are extending their social media campaigns to encompass it. But without direction and a plan it will be a waste of time and energy. Let’s look over some things that you must observe in your campaign.

Change your personal page into a business page

While this does seem terribly obvious, the obvious things are the most easily missed. Many businesses are still indeed using personal Pinterest pages for their company instead of the new ‘business’ profile. There are many advantages of switching over, including analytics, ‘rich pins, and more business-oriented features. Switching over is well worth it.

Stay focused and relevant with your boards

Your boards need to represent whatever you are promoting, whether it is your own photos or relevant photos which belong to other websites/companies. While you can indeed break out of the box and have boards that are not directly related to your work (for the sake of variety and levity), but they should not be to the point where it overwhelms/distracts the boards pertinent to your company’s products/services.

Be Social

Remember that Pinterest is social media and there is no room for robotic, rote, thoughtless promotion of your business. Have the person in charge of your account engage users by making comments, starting discussions, and responding to comments. And don’t just make any old comments, use marketing know-how in order to craft engaging comments.

Add watermarks

Imagine how many impressions your photos will get over time on Pinterest. One should capitalize off these impressions by adding a watermark which has your company name and domain name, to not do so is willful waste!

Use Marketing when naming boards

Don’t get the word marketing confused with meaningless pleas to ‘buy now’. Marketing is the way of achieving interest, and desire in your products/services. And the goal of your business’s Pinterest account is to do just that, therefore any place you use text in your Pinterest account needs to be well-thought out with the goal of gaining interest/desire.
